ABOUT DR. HUSSEY
Dr. Michael Hussey is an internationally trained board-certified orthopaedic surgeon whose practice is dedicated solely to the study and treatment of shoulder and elbow injuries. His extensive training has allowed him to treat all complex problems, ranging from sports injuries to arthritis. He uses state-of-the-art minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery to treat many conditions ranging from rotator cuff repair and shoulder instability, to shoulder and elbow stiffness. Joint replacement is also frequently used in his practice to reconstruct the arthritic joint and he is well versed in shoulder and elbow replacement.

Dr. Hussey has experienced upper extremity injuries of his own and knows what it is like to be the patient. He prides himself on being conservative in his treatment approach, always looking for a non-surgical approach to the patient first and reserving surgery as the final option. Ultimately, his goal is to restore mobility and power to the injured arm, so that patients can get back to life and enjoying their hobbies again.
Dr. Hussey attended medical school at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences where he graduated as an Alpha Omega Alpha honor recipient. He then completed his general orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Texas in San Antonio. From there, he pursued a shoulder and elbow training fellowship at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, gaining expertise in arthroscopic as well as joint replacement techniques. He then traveled abroad for international training in minimally invasive shoulder surgery, working at the prestigious Alps Surgery Institute in France. Dr. Hussey also completed the MAOA Traveling Fellowship in advanced elbow reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Hussey’s particular interest in shoulder and elbow surgery is evident in his numerous research investigations and publications in the orthopaedic literature. He is the author of four book chapters related to disorders of the shoulder and elbow. He also serves as a consultant reviewer for the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.
