Arthroscopic debridement and capsular release is a minimally invasive technique typically utilized for the early to moderate stages of shoulder arthritis. This procedure removes arthritic bone and loose cartilage from the joint, as well as release tight capsular tissue to allow for improved shoulder motion. This is a good option for patients wanting to avoid or delay the need for a shoulder replacement.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
Physical therapy is a science dedicated to the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. Licensed physical therapists are trained to restore, maintain, and promote optimal physical conditioning in their patients. Once the injured arm has recovered, therapists teach patients home exercise programs designed to prevent the recurrence of injury. Dr. Hussey heavily utilizes therapy as a means to restore function to the injured arm and avoid the need for surgery. Physical therapy protocols are tailored to each patient’s individual injury.

CORTISONE INJECTIONS
Cortisone is a very effective anti-inflammatory corticosteroid medicine that can be injected around the joints and inflamed tissue to relieve pain and decrease inflammation. The medicine is prepared with a short-acting anesthetic such as lidocaine to decrease the immediate pain caused by the injection.
