AC JOINT RECONSTRUCTION

The AC joint reconstruction surgery is performed to repair the separated acromioclavicular (AC) joint and bring the end of the clavicle in alignment with the scapula. This is typically performed by using strong suture material to hold the clavicle in place until the native ligaments are healed. In some circumstances, allograft (donor) tissue is used to supplement the repair to add further strength and biologic tissue.
