SUPERIOR CAPSULAR RECONSTRUCTION

Superior capsular reconstruction is a novel technique first developed in Japan to treat individuals with irreparable rotator cuff tears. Typically dermal allograft tissue is utilized to reconstruct the superior capsule  of the shoulder joint serving as a “patch graft” to keep the ball contained within the socket. Early findings using this technique are showing promising results, although long-term data is lacking.
